Public Libraries for self-study in Kathmandu Valley

Kaiser Library

Kaisere library information is old data (before the 9-6 office time set by the government), so use it with a caution. If you know the current timings, send me an e-mail at admin@berojgarengineer.com.

Opening days: Entire week

Opening hours: 9-6 on weekdays, 10-5 on friday and 10-4 on public holidays

Open on saturday: Yes

Open on public holidays: Yes

Presence of study carrel: Yes, but not sufficient.

Computer Access: Not Available

Membership: Not Available

Self-study own books: Allowed

Power sockets: Not Adequate. It can cause problem for people who need to charge their laptop/tablet because the battery is not long lasting.

I do not recommend them, because they are always full. People reach there at 7AM to fix their seat. Honestly ridiculous. I have even suggested them to include a paid section for nominal price so that not all seats get reserved always, and the same people keep on filling it forever. That would help to make the library more inclusive to all groups of people.

Central Law Library

Opening days: Except public holidays

Opening hours: 9AM to 6PM

Open on saturday: No

Open on public holidays: No

Presence of study carrel: Yes(with membership of e-library)

Computer Access: Available(But it can’t be trusted for more than researching online)

Membership: Rs.400/month for premium section as of 2083/07/06

Self-study own books: Allowed

Power sockets: Abundant in premium section. It would greatly help if the middle part of the e-library that is premium section also consisted of some kind of power sockets. It could simply be some extension cords. Inadequate in the free section.

Private study rooms

I know of a situation that many of us face.

That is, you are a working professional who wants to study on weekends or before/after office hours.

Then the solution is to visit private study rooms. They are a place where you are given a study cubicle in a room with many other cubicles, a power socket, and a light source. Your job is to study there. However note that they are very costly.

The study room that I visit cost 3,500 rupees per month. And there is not even an AC, just fans. I love that place due to the vibes surrounding that place. That is why I keep on going there.

For per day stay, you need to pay 200 rupees. The cost will vary according to location and study room. But I gave the tentative rates.

I have hugely benefitted from the usage of study rooms. My productivity increases when I am inside study room. It helps me boost my mental fortitude for focus, concentration, learning new things.

I recommend them if you are also a working professional. But not as a student because you do not have money as a student. If your parents can afford it, I recommend in that case as well.

Hence these are the public libraries and private libraries that you can visit to boost your study productivity and learning.
