NRB IT assistant director vacancy, syllabus, and guidance
Introduction
NRB is the most lucrative government job for freshers in Nepal. Unlike private jobs where you start at the bottom and have to gain experience to go up the hierarchy, NRB offers a different path.
NRB is better even when compared with other government banks jobs because NRB does not require a masters degree for officer level positions.
As an IT graduate, you can apply for Assistant Director(IT) in NRB.
Why Nepal Rastra Bank
Nepal Rastra Bank job is a stable government job. It provides you with job security. Pension does not exist anymore though but there are various retirement benefits.
It is (almost) future proof.
It pays really high. Without including bonuses, NRB 6th level officers were getting 1 lakh 5 thousands before the 21% increment.
With 21% increment, the salary moves towards 1,27,050. (Obviously it will not be exactly same because how they increase 21% will depend on the corporation to corporation basis.).
Now, NRB also provides annual bonuses. Usually 3-6 months of salary is given as bonuses. Assume, you get 3 months of salary as bonuses. And note that, NRB is the lender of last resort and it is very stable because its goal itself is to make Nepal’s economy stable, so NRB will never be in loss. If it is in loss, Nepal is done (bro!).
The salary after 21% increment will be around 70,000 per month. Extra 3 months of salary means, your total package will be:
1,27,050 x 12+70,000 x 3
i.e., you will make around 17.5 Lakhs per annum. Not bad by any means.
Day-to-day life in NRB
Now, let me be honest. I do not work at NRB.
But I know a lot from my past experience with various corporate houses of Nepal.
The IT department of NRB does Regulatory Technology stuffs.
Vacancy
Will NRB vacancy for IT Assistant Director open this year?
Nobody knows. The signals are off. NRB provided the updated syllabus in their website for Assistant Director (Administration), but have not yet updated the syllabus for IT or Cybersecurity.

But there is hope as well.
IT development and operations is left under the supervision of Governor. And we know that NRB has got a latest governor. So, the chances are there that he might want to open lots of IT vacancies. It could be in the form of Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence or basic IT as well.
You will get good promotion prospects. NRB is absolutely top-most respected job in Nepal.
Work You’ll Actually Do
The work that you will do as a Assistant Director (IT or Cyber Security) in NRB will be mostly related to SupTech, RegTech. Your task is to audit bank’s “defense” against cyber threats. Your task it ensure that the cyber resilience guidelines, IT guidelines, AI guidelines, etc., are being followed properly in A class banks.

Books
For GK+Technical textbooks recommendations, visit the blog given below:

TLDR(For GK):
- get GK Saurav(For old questions solved):
https://s.daraz.com.np/s.ZPjry?cc

These are the GK and first paper books I have collected over the time. What I am suggesting comes from my experience with these books. So you can trust my recommendations.
This helps for GK. This is beyond what you need for GK. It contains all the previous year questions collected+solved in one book.
For the mathematics and statistics books, there is a gate publications’ book. But I do not recommend it. For the first paper as well, they have a book. But I did not find it “that” helpful to recommend to the readers of the blog.
The sad thing is that there are no alternative books if you do not buy those books by gate publications. But I believe more books will arrive in the future as the mega ntc vacancy has happened for computer engineers.
For technical part: use the notes you probably made during your university degree days.
Institutes
- apex
- line
- iglobe
- pragyanam
All probably use(I know 3 of them) AI to make slides/notes and teach that. So I do not recommend joining institutes. It will cost you over 10,000 Rupees to join their online classes.
Roadmap
The roadmap is present in the blog given below:
It is not specific for NTC though. But it contains the gist of what you should do while preparing for any corporation specific exams.
